That’s what I was telling myself each morning as I look at the thermometer and just felt like crawling back into my warm bed! It was 52 degrees and windy out the other day and I just didn’t want to get out there and run, but I did. This morning it was 45 degrees and with a beanie and gloves I made it out the door! And I am so glad I did because it was a good run! I’m on week two of this program and I’m feelin so confident that I can accomplish this goal and make it a victory.
The schedule
Week 1
Day 1: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
Day 2: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
Day 3: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
Week 2
Day 1: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
Day 2: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
Day 3: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes.
The other two days are reserved for strength training, which is just as much effort for me as the running! The hubs created the “workout” for me….enough said. For all of you who know him, the gym is his second home and the weights are pretty much his best friend! Let’s just say, “he’s hardcore” when it comes to working out and I’m feelin’ the burn.
I’ve been wanting to run a 5K for quite some time now, but I the excuses were flowing faster than I could put on my running shoes! Just do it already, right?! So I did! The hubs and I will be running in the “8th Annual San Diego Race for Autism” on March 24th and I can hardly wait!
Here’s a little snippet from last year’s race…

We chose the “San Diego Race for Autism” because of this sweet little girl!
This is our precious niece, Trinity. She’s eight years old and she has autism. Although she doesn’t live here in San Diego, she is very near and dear to our hearts, so this first race is for her and her family! My sister-in-law has kept me up-to-date on Trinity’s progress, as well as her struggles, through the years and I can only praise her and her husband for all the dedication and time they put into caring for their daughter. Did I mention they have 3 other children as well? All I can say is, “Super Mom!”
What I’ve been “fueling” my days with before and after runs…
Lot’s of H2O and lemon! Tried H2O with cucumber the other day and that was so refreshing.
Lot’s of raw veggies (carrots, cucumbers, red pepper, broccoli) and homemade Sun-dried Tomato Hummis for dipping!
Protein or granola bars, crumbled and topped with a nanner and a drizzle of Sun-Butter!
“Green” protein smoothies! In the mix…spinach and/or kale, some frozen berries (whatever I have on hand), protein powder, kefir, flax, and a little water. Hits the spot every time!
I’m looking forward to keeping you updated on my progress! Happy Wednesday!
Blessings,
J’lene
